Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 2-Day Provider Course #11 Thursday, November 11 & Friday, November 12 8:00AM - 4:30PM Childrens Hospital Campus Page Conference Room/Weingart Auditorium The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) two-day course is designed for physicians, registered nurses, medical students, paramedics, and respiratory therapists working in acute care hospital settings. This course teaches the recognition and management of cardiac arrest, shock, and resuscitation to infants and children. This PALS Course is based upon the recommendations set by the American Heart Association. January 25 & 26 July 29 & 30 February 15 & 16 August 18 & 19 March 11 & 12 September 16 & 17 April 1 & 2 October 25 & 26 May 17 & 18 November 11 & 12 June 29 & 30 December 13 & 14 COURSE MATERIALSThe loaner texts, AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Manual 2006, AHA PALS Course Guide 2006, and PALS Student CD may be picked up from your Manager. Books and study packets can be picked up approximately one month prior to class and no less than one week before class. If materials are not picked up at least one week in advance, participants will forfeit attendance to class and will need to reschedule to attend at a later date. Community participants must purchase their own books per AHA policy. Participants are responsible for reviewing materials prior to the class. Loaner texts must be returned in good condition the day of class. Participants are responsible for the cost of the text if it is not returned or returned in poor condition. Textbooks are available for purchase through the Education Coordinator.
Prerequisites and preparationThe following knowledge and skills are required for the successful completion of this course.
Participant must bring copy of their current BLS card. Students who have not studied and prepared for this course will be rescheduled into another class to allow them adequate preparation for successful completion of the class. Class attendanceBe courteous and on time. It is disruptive to other students and instructors and difficult for late students to catch up once the class starts. Students are expected to attend and participate in the entire course. You will not be allowed to attend the class if you are late 20 minutes or more.
C.E. creditProvider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 183, for 15.0 contact hours.

ParkingHospital Self-ParkingAvailable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for $7 per day. Main Visitor Parking GarageOur main visitor parking is located beneath the main hospital building at 4650 Sunset Boulevard (near the intersection of Sunset & Vermont). Parking in the hospital's main Visitor Parking Garage is limited. The main Garage fills by 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Across From the HospitalAdditional parking is located at 4551 Sunset Blvd, 1/2 block East of Rodney. This structure's entrance is on the north side of Sunset Blvd. This lot is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM through 6:00 PM.
